
Island Estates Woman’s Club Installs New Officers and Presents Scholarships

CLEARWATER – At the May 20th meeting of the IEWC held at the Beachcomber on Clearwater Beach, the new officers were installed. Peggy Gibson, parliamentarian; Barbara Blakely, treasurer; Beverly Kennedy, first vice president; Betty Elsesser, president; Maria Wadsworth, recording secretary, Hilda Trew, corresponding secretary; Dee Bucklew historian and publicity. In addition, $2500 scholarships were presented to last year’s recipients, Laura Porcaro attending FSU and Lindsey Rainwater, attending USF. The outstanding scholastic achievements of these students were recognized by presenting them each with a scholarship for another year. The next meeting of the IEWC will be September 16 starting with a tour of the newly renovated Clearwater Marine Science Center followed by a buffet lunch at Shephards on the beach.
