Fine Art Society Installs Officers/Presents Check to Gulf Coast Museum

The Fine Art Society installed the new officers for the fiscal year 2008-2009 at their annual Spring Luncheon, May 15 at Alfano’s Restaurant.

Out-going president Judy McSwine presented Michelle Turman, Executive Director of the Gulf Coast Museum of Art with a check for $30,000 representing the proceeds of the fundraising events for the year 2007-2008- “Art in Style” Fashion Show Luncheon, Film and Fare and other FAS events.

Michelle Turman thanked the Society for the check and their support adding that The Museum has been nominated for the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Non-Profit of the Year Award.

Michelle Turman then installed Anne Lauder as the new president of the Society. Claire Mattison, 1st vice president; Gloria Hollingsworth, 2nd vice president; Kate Sullivan, corresponding secretary; and Lynn Lees ass’t. treasurer. Gladys Ball, recording secretary and Joyce Muller, treasurer were not present.

The program on the current and future art exhibits with comment on the artists and their works as well as the Fall exhibit with Christopher Still was given by the museum’s new Curator, Stephanie Heydt.
