Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisEven without children in the home, you can hear it in the air, "School's out! School's out! No more studies, no more books, no more teachers dirty looks." Or, perhaps, today's youngsters are more polite than we were. At any rate, it has been my experience that the little dears are cheering the end of school one minute, and crying, "I'm bored! What can I do next?" One answer to that question, if they live north of Memorial Causeway, is to pop them on their bicycles and head them to the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center pool. The cost is right -- probably less expensive than anything else around and, if they are eight or older, they are allowed to use the pool watched over by the pool's excellent life guards without parental supervision. Better still, go with them and create childhood memories that will warm their hearts forever. Better yet, take the whole family and a picnic lunch. It's a cool, inexpensive way to enjoy the summer. If you've been wondering if you should volunteer to help out at the library, now is a good time to sign up. Last month the calendar was full. This month vacations are taking their toll and additional volunteers are needed. It's an interesting and worthwhile way to spend an afternoon.
