Executive director Bill Sanders provides information on Keep Pinellas Beautiful at the recent Eco-Fest at George C. McGough Nature Park. Keep Pinellas Beautiful is a non-profit volunteer based organization affiliated with Keep America Beautiful. Its mission is the reduction of litter and marine debris; litter awareness education; promotion of recycling; and beautification of our communities. Volunteers help with neighborhood cleanups throughout the year as well as the annual Great American Cleanup each spring and the Florida Coastal Cleanup in the fall. Groups and individuals can also participate in the Adopt-A-Pond, Adopt-A-Road, Adopt-A-Shore, Marine Litter Patrol and Litter Awareness programs. For more information, you may call (727) 533-0402. Keep Pinellas Beautiful also maintains a 24-hour Pinellas Litter Hotline for reporting any litter problems, such as road or environmental hazards and illegal dumping. That number is 210-GONE (210-4663).
