Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisAt the end of a hot and frustrating day, there's a refreshing moment waiting for you, one that removes the humidity, the tenseness, even the feeling of being one against the world. It's called the Monday and Wednesday evening aqua exercise opportunity at the Clearwater Beach Aquatic Center, right next to the tennis courts on Mandalay Avenue. As Libby, the instructor, reminds us, "You can work at your own pace." The workout is different for everyone, but the results are the same. We all relax in the cool water, enjoy the easy movements and feel encouraged by the friendliness and understanding of our fellow exercisers. We start at 6 p.m. and end at 6:45, feeling ready to either "veg out" for the rest of the evening, or go out and lick the world. Meantime, while most of us are just digging into summer, the hardworking Friends of the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center and Library board members are busy planning an exciting grand opening for the new quarters of the library. This will be in the recreation center in late July. The Friends are also starting to think about recreation and library programs for the fall and winter. They would welcome your suggestions! Did you like Family Game Night? Are you interested in joining a Writer's Group? How about a Sing-along of the old, old, oldies? (Think, "You Are My Sunshine.") Got a suggestion? Take a moment to think about it and then e-mail the "Friends" at recsandreads@earthlink.net.
