Webcam for WinterCLEARWATER - Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) announced it has partnered with the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport and the Clearwater Beach Chamber of Commerce to install a live webcam at its facility to complement its new website. The Canon VB-C50i webcam allows for a 24-hour 360? look at the dolphin exhibit and adjacent turtle exhibit. St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport provided funding for the project, which was coordinated by the Clearwater Beach Chamber of Commerce. With the tremendous international interest in Winter the dolphin, web guests now have an opportunity to see Winter and CMA’s other dolphins at various times, with the added ability to actually control the camera from their computer. Guests can log on and experience the CMA dolphins show at their regularly scheduled times, and see both dolphins and sea turtles in their exhibits. Since the release of Winter’s inspiring story in 2006, it has become one of the largest media stories in Tampa’s history. With repeated airings on the NBC Today Show, CBS Early Show, CNN, BBC, and nearly every other major news outlet, Winter has become a global phenomenon. This exposure created a wave of interest in the inspiring nature of her story.
