Largo Meeting Reviews Expansion of Southwest Recreation Center Racket ball courts to be removedBy Bill LopezLARGO -- A Neighborhood Compatibility Meeting (NCM) to consider the Southwest Recreation Center expansion is scheduled for Thursday, June 26, at 6 p.m. in the Program Room. The proposed city initiated project to expand the center includes the demolition of 4,000 square feet and the addition of 6,500 square feet. Existing racket ball courts will be removed and the new facilities will include program rooms, a multipurpose room and restrooms. Planning Manager Bob Jarzen with the Planning and Development Services Division of the city will meet with interested parties along with the project engineer, city staff from Community Development, Recreation, Arts and Parks, and Public Works. City officials will be present to answer specific questions from the public. The NCM is being held as part of the development review process for the site plan for the proposed facility.
