Belleair Bluffs Hosts Independence Day Celebration

Phillip and Mona Kelly, at right with grandson Bryce Simpson, 2, are being served their choice of hot dogs or hamburgers by volunteers (from left) Tricia Priest of HomeBanc and Ginny Moore of EasyLiving, Inc. at the Independence Day celebration at Belleair Bluffs City Hall on July 4. The event, which was sponsored by the city and Bluffs Business Association, featured a dessert contest, live entertainment, music and a variety of activities for children, including a bounce house.

(from left) Jane Tomlinson, Kay Dunlop, Brennan Bender, 7, and Brielle Bender, 5, hold the gift bags they were presented following judging in the dessert contest at the Independence Day celebration in Belleair Bluffs on July 4. Tomlinson, of 432 west side, a Belleair Bluffs shop which carries a unique variety of clothing, jewelry, accessories and gifts, was awarded first place for her "Goody Brownie Bars". Dunlop's "Hornet's Nest Cake" was judged best in that category. Brennan's apple blackberry pie and Brielle's oatmeal cookies also earned them first place in their respective divisions.
