Recs and Reads

By Anne McKay Garris

Exercise might as well be fun, so get ready to do it to Latin music during your lunch hour.  The popular Zumba classes at the Beach Recreation Center have been extended to Thursdays from Noon to 1 p.m.   Tuesdays' Zumba will continue on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to Noon, so pick your time -- or, better yet, go both days.

You can substitute Zumba for the Aqua-Cise class on July 21 and 23.  Aqua-Cise will not be held on those dates because Libby, our excellent instructor, will be on vacation.

Bring the family to the open pool party at the Clearwater Beach Aquatic Center pool, tomorrow night, July 11, at 7 p.m.  This includes pool games, conducted by pool staff members, pizza and other refreshments and for a most reasonable price.  The maximum cost is $5, reduced by play passes or membership cards.  When was the last time you played Marco Polo in the pool?

And, on July 17, Doc Selig will be back to teach fishing for five Thursdays.  Hint -- if you like to fish, sign up your youngster and make excuses to escort him, or her to the fishing class.  Otherwise, put him on bread and water until he shares with you Doc's fishing tips.  Your fishing days will be much improved if you do. No fair competing in the fishing tournaments.  That's the special moment reserved for kids in the class.  Do you remember the first fish you ever caught?

Correction!  When I asked for suggestions for programs at the library or recreation center, last week, I listed the wrong e-mail address.  The correct one is recsandreads@earthlink.net.
