Owner of a Largo Sports Bar Robbed After Closing His Business for the Night

Pinellas County detectives are investigating an armed robbery that took place outside a Largo sports bar. The robbery occurred at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday, July 08, in the parking lot of JJ’s Scoreboard located at 11301 Starkey Road in the unincorporated area of Largo.

According to detectives the owner had closed his business for the night and was walking to his car when two suspects appeared near the vehicle. Both suspects had jacket hoods pulled over their heads and bandanas covering the lower half of their faces to conceal their identities. Detectives say one of the suspects brandished a handgun while demanding cash prompting the victim to flee on foot in an attempt to escape. One of the suspects chased after the victim and struck him in the head with a gun that he was carrying. When the victim fell to the ground the suspects took a bank deposit from him and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim then called 911 to report the robbery.

Deputies searched the area using canine teams and a helicopter; however the suspects were not found. The victim refused medical treatment for a minor head injury sustained during the robbery.

Suspect # 1 is described as a 17-20 year-old male with dark bushy hair. The suspect stands approximately 6’0” tall and weighs between 160-170 lbs. He was last seen wearing baggy blue jeans, a dark colored hooded jacket, and a dark colored bandana that was pulled over the lower half of his face. This suspect was armed with a handgun.

Suspect #2 is described as a 17-20 year-old male who stands approximately 5’7” tall and weighs between 130-140 pounds. He was last seen wearing baggy blue jeans, a dark colored hooded jacket, and a dark colored bandana that was pulled over the lower half of his face.
