The sign on the door of the Clearwater Beach Police Substation at 700 Bayway Blvd. says “Closed.” Public Information Officer Elizabeth Daley-Watts states that “due to budget cuts, there is no desk clerk; the substation is used as a facility when officers need to write reports.” Assessed value of this waterfront parcel is $1,630,200, taxes $32,501.50, but the city does not pay taxes because the land was donated to the city in trust by Louis Vaneck.
