Recs and Reads

By Anne McKay Garris

It's here!  It really is!  The new Clearwater Beach Branch Library had its ribbon cutting moment last week.  The turn out was great even with so many of our residents on vacation.  The enthusiasm was real.  The library is beautiful and well supplied with books and other materials.

There's much to celebrate.  Now -- there are four computers you can use instead of two.  All you need is a library card.  And that's not hard to get.  If you are a resident, some evidence of that is needed to obtain a card.  If you are a visitor, all you need is a receipt from the facility where you are staying.  Visitors who return each year can even request the library to hold their card for them while they are gone.

Comfortable arm chairs beside windows that give you a panoramic view of Clearwater Bay, tempt you to spend some time reading your favorite magazine.  The magazines and reference materials are easy to find and use and we still have the friendly face of Librarian Linda Hamrell behind the counter, ready to share her extensive knowledge of how it all works and what's available.

New library cards are being issued daily and the need of volunteers is stronger than it was in the temporary location, so, if you'd like to spend a pleasant three hours or more, once a week, or once a month, stop by and put your name on the list of volunteers who are helping make the library a pleasant place and useful facility in our community.

In the near future, a Friends of The Clearwater Library used book shelf will be added to the new features available.
