Clearwater Marine Aquarium Appoints Lee Behensky Director of Development

CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) announces the appointment of Lee Behensky as its new Director of Development. Behensky has 17 years of experience in fundraising within the Tampa Bay area. She will manage all of CMA’s fundraising efforts from memberships to capital campaigns. “With the recent tremendous growth we have been experiencing, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium is delighted to bring on board a long-term and well respected director of development,” said David Yates, CEO of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

Prior to joining CMA, Behensky worked for 15 years at Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater’s performing arts center and theater. During this time, she was responsible for focused fundraising efforts in general membership, major gifts, special events, capital campaigns and planned giving.  In addition, she consulted for Trinity College of Florida, the Good Samaritan Mission, Francis Wilson Playhouse and the Lighthouse of Pinellas.

She received her bachelor’s degree in Non Profit Management from Eckerd College in 2000.  Behensky also received her CFRE (certified fundraising executive) certificate in 2000 and again in 2003. For the past five years, she has served as a board member and stewardship chair for First United Methodist Church.  She was previously a member of the Pinellas County Estate Planning Council, Jr. League of Clearwater-Dunedin and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
