Club to Hear How Sea Shells Get Their Shape and Color

CLEARWATER – Suncoast Conchologists Shell Club members will hear the program “Patterns in Sea Shell Form and Color” or “Snails Can Do The Math” at its regular October meeting on the 7th. The program, to be presented by Alice Monroe, will explain how sea shell shapes, textures and colors can be modeled and predicted using computerization.

Monroe, a life-long member of the club and recently elected president of the Conchologists of America, an international organization of shell enthusiasts, is a professor at St. Petersburg College.

October’s meeting on the 7th will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Rainbow Drive and Hercules in Clearwater. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information call (727) 796-4117.
