City of Dunedin’s 2008 Holiday Pole Decorating Contest

DUNEDIN - The City of Dunedin and the Arts & Culture Advisory Committee are once again co-sponsoring their annual, winter holiday, pole decorating contest. Local business owners and civic organizations are invited to be partners in the City of Dunedin’s “Operation Twinkle” program. The objective is to dress up Downtown Dunedin for the holidays and create a festive and sparkling, family friendly atmosphere. Light poles are to be “adopted” and decorated by the local merchants and organizations. The contest sponsors are seeking applicants to get into the holiday spirit and help “dress up our city for the holidays.”

All participants will receive a certificate, recognition on Dunedin TV 15 and will be announced during the Old Fashioned Christmas event December 5th. Rosette ribbons will be awarded to the top three contestants in the categories of “Best Holiday Spirit” and “Best Themed Pole.” The winner of the “Best Overall Pole” will be awarded a rotating trophy with name of the business or organization inscribed and kept at the winner’s location until following year.

Contest applications are available at the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, the Dunedin Public Library, the Boxcar and City Hall as well as the Dunedin Community Center, the Hale Center and the Martin Luther King Center. Poles must be decorated between November 5th and November 23rd, 2008.
