Fish Fry Proceeds to Support Historic Plumb House MuseumThe Clearwater Historical Society has announced that their annual fall fish fry will be held on Saturday, November 1st, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Ross Norton Recreation Center, 1426 South Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Clearwater. The Society is a 501c 3 non-profit organization and adults will be admitted for a donation of $10 and children 12 and under for a donation of $5, which gets you all you can eat of the best fried fish and tastiest hush puppies in town, along with plenty of delicious cheese grits, cole slaw, iced tea or coffee, and free parking (valet parking, if necessary). All net proceeds go to the maintenance and upkeep of the Historic Plumb House Museum. Jennie Plumb was the first paid public school teacher in Clearwater for whom Plumb Elementary School is named. The museum will be open on "Fish Fry Day", November 1st, and from then to Saturday, May 2nd, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, and from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m on each Saturday. The museum is located immediately north of the Ross Norton Recreation Center so, after you have had your fill of super good food at the fish fry, go next door to the Historic Plumb House for a free tour of the museum to see the uniforms and pictures of the Clearwater Bombers, the 10 time World Softball Champions. Also see the many historical documents, early Clearwater photographic collections and period furniture which is on display in the museum.
