Wild Bird Rescue Training Seminar Slated

INDIAN SHORES - Learn how to rescue and help wild birds at the "Wild Bird Rescue Training Seminar," presented free Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, 18328 Gulf Blvd., Indian Shores. Attendees will learn how to identify basic injuries, remove hooks and monofilament lines, pick-up or secure an injured bird, transportation techniques and more. They also will learn how they can become a Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary Certified Wild Bird Rescuer. Educational materials are provided and attendees meet at the sanctuary's beachfront triple deck.

The Basic Training Seminar will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Advanced Bird Rescue will start at 11 a.m. and birds will be used to demonstrate. The seminar is presented by Barbara Suto, the Avian Hospital Supervisor at the sanctuary for over 26 years, and Greg Slutzky, Bird Rescue Manager.
