Largo Police Officer Julie Williams, left, and Largo Police volunteer coordinator Will Tripoli were on hand to provide information on the Volunteers in Policing (VIP) Program at the 2008 Senior Fun Fest/Health & Wellness Fair at the Largo Community Center on October 23. VIPs assist the police department through support or patrol positions. Support volunteers teach 55 Alive classes, conduct tours of the station, fingerprint children at various events and conduct Buckle Up campaigns. Patrol VIPs check homes of residents on vacation, impound found bicycles, assist with event traffic safety, provide package and person transport and more.
