Clearwater Awards for Neighborhoods 2009 Participant Orientations Scheduled
CLEARWATER – Clearwater Development and Neighborhood Services is seeking active neighborhoods associations for its 2009 Clearwater Awards for Neighborhoods competition. Also known as its acronym CAN, the program awards grants to neighborhood groups that design and execute projects and activities to benefit their residents and community. Neighborhood Services will hold various orientation sessions for associations wishing to join the competition.
Participating neighborhoods may enter their associations in one or more categories. They document the processes and outcomes of their projects in a variety of media which are judged against entries of competing neighborhoods. Cash grants to fund further projects are awarded as prizes. Last year, $25,000 in grant dollars were awarded to 13 participating neighborhood groups with prizes ranging from $500 to $5,000.
Neighborhoods must attend at least one orientation session to be eligible for participation. All sessions will be held in room 130 at the Clearwater Municipal Services Building, 100 S. Myrtle Ave. Those who attend sessions held after regular business hours may use the building’s East Avenue entrance. The following sessions are available: Wed., Dec. 3, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Tues., Dec. 9, 1 to 2 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Sat., Jan. 17, 2009, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; Wed., Jan. 21, 1 to 2 p.m.; Sat., Jan. 31, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
