Largo Installs Vice Mayor and Commissioners

LARGO - Observing Article II of the city charter, Largo Mayor Patricia Gerard's appointment of Gigi Arntzen as vice mayor was approved by the Largo commission during its meeting Tuesday.

Arntzen who occupies Seat 4 will serve as vice mayor for one year through November 10, 2009. She has been a Largo resident since 1973 and has worked for Pinellas County Government for 30 years.

The vice mayor performs the duties of mayor during the mayor's temporary absence or disability and is appointed at the City Commission meeting when the oath of office is administered to newly elected members of the city commission. The appointment of vice mayor requires approval by vote of the commissioners during the same meeting.

Commissioners Robert Murray, Seat 2, and Mary Black, Seat 1, who were reelected November 4, were sworn in for their new terms that began November 18.
