Susan Cerulean, Florida writer, naturalist and activist Susan's nature memoir, Tracking Desire: A Journey After Swallow-tailed Kites, was named Editors' Choice by Audubon magazine, and landed Cerulean the Florida Chapter of the Sierra Club's annual nature writing award in December 2005. Susan has written and advocated on behalf of Florida and its wildlife from her home in Tallahassee since 1981. She designed the state's Non-game and Watchable Wildlife programs, and was named Environmental Educator of the Year by the Governor's Council for a Sustainable Florida in 1997. February 4th – Wednesday, 8 a.m., Gateway Wetlands and Tampa Bay Auto Museum (Admission to the museum is $8 per person, $6 for seniors and $5 for students). After, everyone will visit the Museum which houses early 20th century European marques and replica of world’s first automobile. Bring your binoculars if you have them! Bird-watching walk in the park to look for songbirds & raptors in oak & xeric hammock, water birds in lake. Three-quarter mile trail. This is a wonderful walk for beginners as well as experienced birders. 3-12 years: $1.85, 13 years and up: $3.50. Bring your binoculars if you have them! Multi-Day Trip - Reservations necessary! Saturday, 2/7, 6 a.m. to Sunday, 2/9/, 4 p.m. Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge (approx. $150 per person). Contact: Paul Trunk, 727-447-4785. Meet at Coachman Fundamental Middle School. This wonderful weekend long bird-watching trip explores the shoreline north of Cape Canaveral where you can see rails, scrub-jays, water, and shore birds, raptors, and more. Meet in front of Target in the Clearwater Mall, Route 60. Bird-watching trip to see water and shore birds on Causeway to Rocky Point Audubon Trail plus songbirds at Al Lopez Park.
