All women who served or are currently serving in the Marines are invited to the luncheon, which will take place at noon. The museum is located at 2050 34th Way North. Most of the members in the organization are veterans of World War II, Korea and/or Vietnam. The group also has active duty women Marines on its roster as well. Lucille Gunion is president. Other officers are Maxine Wehry, vice president; Marilyn Goler, secretary; and Sylvia Morgan, treasurer. Wehry and Speedy Gibson are chairpersons for the anniversary luncheon. The Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, which is affiliated with the National Women Marines Association, was founded in 1968. Last November the women celebrated the 233rd anniversary of the Marine Corps with a luncheon at Stacey's Buffet in Largo. The oldest member present was Ethel Fritz, who is 93. In December, the group held its annual Christmas Party at Pinecrest Place. Some of the members also attended the national convention of women marines which was held in Houston this past year.
