City of Clearwater spendingI know you are running an eliminate projects campaign for the city of Clearwater budget. I'm sure there are numerous future projects that are wasteful. However, I am writing to take exception to two projects that have just occurred. What about the two (2) new traffic signals the city has recently installed. There is one (1) on Island Estates. Now really, wouldn't you love to see the traffic study that supports this monstrosity? Now we have all traffic on and off Island Estates stopping to let one or two cars enter the intersection at Island Way and Windward Passage. Then there is the second traffic signal on Court St. in front of the Courthouse. When active, there will be two signals in one block! When west-bound, It is always difficult to travel through the Ft. Harrison intersection anyway due to traffic slow down from the existing signal, now there will be two signals? I would also love to see that traffic study!! I recently drove around Tampa International Airport since the removal of those signals and was amazed at how efficient it is until one gets into the City of Clearwater. Our traffic signals slow traffic to an inefficient crawl. Why is the City of Clearwater adding traffic signals when the rest of the Bay area is eliminating signals where possible? Why can't Clearwater get it right? - Marsha Kuhlman
