(from left) Joan Majetich, June Milheiser and Ann Milheiser admire the quilt displayed by Annette DuLaney at the Quilters Crossing Quilt Club's Quilting Under the Palms Quilt Show at the Countryside Recreation Center in Clearwater on February 27. DuLaney's patriotic creation was one of some 200 traditional and contemporary quilts featured at the event co-chaired by Diane DeBolt and Evelyn Towns. Those attending had the opportunity to vote for their favorite quilt. First place "Viewer's Choice" winners were Joan Strednek, small quilts; Susanne Thompson, wall quilts; Diane DeBolt, full quilt; and Mollie Clark, wearable art. Cindi Clapp's entry was judged "Best of Show".

The quilt was a joint effort by members of the Quilters Crossings Quilt Club. The center square featuring a red rose was stitched by Scott Leslie's mother, the late Debbie Leslie, who passed away from cancer not long ago. Proceeds from tickets sold for the drawing will go to the Arts in Medicine program at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
