Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisFans of Michael J. Fox will enjoy gathering at the Beach Branch Library, next Wednesday, March 11, at 10 a.m. to hear Clearwater Beach's own Linda Hamrell discuss Fox's very interesting biography. Come and bring a friend to enjoy this interesting story of a very brave man who continues to overcome obstacles. Next month, on the 2nd Wednesday, Linda will tell us about the mystery stories of Virginia Lanier. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Last week, I played a game of tennis with my two-year-old great grandson! Evan is his name and his energy and enthusiasm for life is awesome. I taught Evan's daddy to play, all those years ago, but Evan beat me sitting down. Well, I was sitting down . . . Evan was dancing excitedly around, waving his "tennis racket" wildly in all directions. We were playing, if you haven't already guessed, on the computer game called Wii. You too can get beat by your grandkids, or the computer itself. Playing in this new way is sometimes frustrating, but fun, and more tennis than I've been able to play in years because my arms still work well, but my legs sometimes don't cooperate. Of course, if tennis is not your game, there's bowling, golf, or boxing, for heaven's sake. All played from a comfortable chair. Wii time at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center is currently from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. on Wednesdays. The Friends of the Clearwater Beach Library and Recreation Center Wii committee is looking for volunteers to be there on a Wednesday to help teach and supervise folks who stop by to play. You don't have to know how to do it? We'll teach you. Just call Pat Power at 446-0929.
