Your e-mail to the Mayor and City Commission has been received. Please let me clarify some misinformation with which you were provided. The City of Largo has not accepted any formal offers from T-Mobile to erect a cellular tower; however, we have been approached with this proposal. The vendor suggested multiple locations within the City of Largo where a Monopine cellular tower might be constructed, of which Northwest Park was one. Prior to any formal decisions being made, however, this issue would go before the City Commission for approval. The City has not heard from the proposed vendor in six or more weeks and so this may be a moot point. It is the obligation of staff to provide sound, concrete and factual information to the City Commission. We cannot present speculative information nor personal opinions, however we do encourage and commend residents to become engaged in their local government. We have every intention of doing what is right for the residents of Largo. In these current economic times we must consider all possible revenue streams; not doing so would be irresponsible. Should you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact me directly. - Jonathan E. Evans, MPA, Assistant to the City Manager, City of Largo
