This fan-leaved Sabal Palm, otherwise known as Swamp Cabbage Palm, bends over the hiking trail at Caladesi Island; offering a natural resting spot. The leaf bud or "heart" at the top of the trunk is an edible delicacy. The Cabbage Palm is the State Tree of Florida.
