Downtown Merchants Observe 50th Sister City Anniversary with Riddle ContestCLEARWATER – Downtown Clearwater merchants are hosting a Japanese Lantern Riddle Contest in observance of the 50th Sister City anniversary with Nagano, Japan. The contest is in conjunction with the city’s April 25 Japanese Culture and Lantern Festival at Station Square Park that celebrates the Sister Cities anniversary. Beginning April 13, the public is invited to visit downtown merchants that display specially marked Japanese Lantern Riddle Contest posters in their windows. Players will be given a riddle to solve and can pickup an answer sheet. Participants will have until close of business April 23 to solve as many riddles as possible. Merchants will accept completed answer sheets. Players with the most correct answers will win prizes including a $300 gold and jade necklace and pendant from Trickel’s Jewelers. Prizes will be awarded at the Japanese Culture and Lantern Festival; players need not be present to win.
