Clearwater Parks and Recreation Department Announces Quarterly Volunteer Awards
Service Group of the Quarter--3 Score Senior Softball - These gentlemen, and ladies from the Freedom Spirit Senior Softball team, (pictured above) gave 500 hours of service during a two-weekend softball tournament in March. This event was sponsored by USF Women's Fast Pitch Softball and featured over 25 collegiate teams from all over the country. Volunteers assisted with parking, gates, umpire shuttling and running scoreboards. This six-day event definitely could not have done event without them. Volunteer of the Quarter is Larry Carawan. Larry is a 3 Score softball member and became a member during the tournament. He volunteered all day, every day of the six-day event. Larry ran scoreboards and shuttled umpires to and from their games. He did the same last year and undoubtedly will be seen all nine days next year when play is expanded to three weekends of play.
