Civitan Awareness Month Recognizes the Clearwater Civitan Club for its Service to the Community

Proclamations naming April, Civitan Awareness Month, were received from Mayor Frank Hibbard in Clearwater, State Senator Frank Fasano in New Port Richey, and Governor Charlie Crist in Tallahassee. Al three proclamations were delivered to Clearwater Civitan Club President Richard Fuller, and past President and current Florida Civitan District Governor-Elect, Frank Kelly. They are pertaining to the hands on, and financial aid, given by the Clearwater Civitan Club to the physically and/or mentally challenged members of our community.

All Civitans are to be recognized for their efforts to serve by fulfilling human needs not met by other organization or individuals. They should also be recognized for seeking to provide life direction, character building, leadership development, and satisfaction in helping those in need.

Clearwater Civitans are presently involved with serving the Challenger Division of the Clearwater Little League, and conducting a fundraising event at the Steak ‘n Shake located at 2490 State Road 580, on Thursday, April 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. Fundraising vouchers are available from Civitans, call 726-6410 or 584-0461.

A Clearwater Police Department recognition program is planned for Tuesday, May 26, at 8 a.m. in the conference room of Chief Sid Klein. Mayor Hibbard and all members of the Clearwater City Council have been invited to attend this Civitan Event.
