Leadership Pinellas Class of 2009 Raises $24,000 for HEP

DUNEDIN, –The members of Leadership Pinellas Class of 2009 will gather at the Dunedin Fine Arts Center to present Homeless Emergency Project, Inc. (HEP) with a check for over $24,000 raised during a recent benefit concert. The concert titled, “Band Together for HEP” featured Cross Eyed Larry playing a mix of classic rocks, blues, and alternative at Gasoline Alley in Largo. Leadership Pinellas will present the check to fund HEP’s Freewheel Bike Recycling and Distribution Program.

HEP’s mission is to provide homeless and very low-income individuals and families with housing, food, clothing and support services necessary to obtain self-sufficiency and improved quality of life. HEP’s Freewheel Bike Program is a not-for-profit bike repair shop and distribution program serving homeless adults and children in Pinellas County. Its purpose is to provide the freedom of personal transportation to homeless adults and children, as well as, recycle/refurbish donated bikes and bike components.

The mission of Leadership Pinellas is to develop and enhance community leadership by providing a diverse group of emerging and existing leaders with the opportunity to increase their community knowledge, civic network, and perpetuate their service to the community.
