Steve Georgiadis Memorial Scholarship to be Awarded to Joseph Dhani

LARGO - The Pinellas Education Foundation has announced that Joseph Dhani, a 2009 graduate of Palm Harbor University High School, is the recipient of the 2009 Steve Georgiadis Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is to be presented by Mrs. Angela Georgiadis during the pre-game ceremonies at the May 20 Tampa Bay Rays game at Tropicana Field. The Steve Georgiadis Scholarship is awarded to a Pinellas County high school baseball player who demonstrates the values of teamwork, leadership, high academic performance and love for the game.

Steve Georgiadis was a 1988 graduate of Seminole High School, an outstanding student and a baseball player whose remarkable talent was eclipsed only by his passion for the game. Steve was the Pinellas County Player of the Year and attended the University of Florida on a baseball scholarship. Steve, whose life was cut tragically short during his sophomore year at UF, so inspired his teammates that his number has been retired at Seminole High and the University of Florida.

Dhani, whose scholarship will be applied to his college education, is a member of the Palm Harbor University High School Varsity Baseball Team. He is on the Honor Roll and Dean’s List and is a member of the National Honor Society. He wants to pursue a health-related career.

The Pinellas Education Foundation is an independent, non-governmental, nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide enhanced educational opportunities for students and educators in Pinellas County Public Schools.
