
Moffitt Cancer Center Hosts Free Luncheon to Provide Awareness of Lung CancerTAMPA - The Lung and Thoracic Tumor Education Program (L.A.T.T.E.) from Moffitt Cancer Center is hosting a free educational program and luncheon August 7 at Michael's On East, 1212 E. Ave. S. in Sarasota. This grant-funded event begins at 11 a.m. and will feature the exhibit, Faces of Lung Cancer, which showcases photographs and essays of lung cancer patients and caregivers sharing their personal journeys. These 29 photo-essays offer a message of hope to newly diagnosed lung cancer patients and family members. Mary Pinder-Schenck, M.D., thoracic medical oncologist at Moffitt, will give an educational presentation on women and lung cancer. Also, a local lung cancer patient will share her story with the audience, concluding the event at 1 p.m. Educational materials and resources will be available for participants to take home.
