Visitors Flock to Clearwater Marina, July 16 - 22, 2009I am an avid reader of your fine newspaper, and have been for years. I must point out, however, that the photo of pelicans being fed at the city marina was not in line with the city marina's policy, nor is it good to encourage this behavior. Almost every year the marina sends notices to the commercial fishing fleet to remind them to properly dispose of the fish carcasses. They make every attempt to discourage this feeding practice. The pelicans cannot dislodge the bones from their throats, choke, and become just another casualty of mistreatment. I would recommend that you refrain from encouraging this behavior and casting a cloud over your otherwise fine publication. - T.C. Dettenwanger
