Elected officials assert authorityFor too long the City Administration has acted like Largo's ultimate authority including policymaker. The latest "overplayed hand" were the signs posted at several city parks announcing their eminent closing, a proclamation that was totally false. The Administration, much less department heads, do not decide what is opened or closed, they do not establish policy nor are they the ultimate arbitrators, that is the exclusive domain of the elected body. Last night (7/21) Mayor Gerard finally reasserted the authority we the voters granted to the elected body. Congratulations Mayor Gerard, job well done!!! - Curtis A. Holmes
