Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisThe heart stirring sound of Greek and Latin music will be heard at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center, beginning Thursday, August 6, at 12:30 p.m. Clearwater's popular dance instructor, Socrates Charos, will begin classes in Latin and Greek dancing at the Center. Classes will last until 2 p.m. and cost $15 with a recreation center card. You don't need a partner, just come and find out a most pleasant way to move to music and get the kind of exercise you need without even trying. Computer classes are also now available at the Recreation Center, sign up now for the portion of computer activity you haven't yet mastered. On Tuesday, July 11, "templates, settings and labels in Word Processing" is the topic. You are asked to call and sign up ahead of time for these classes. Cost is from $15 to $25 a session, but there will not be more than six people in the class so you can be sure of individual attention to your needs. Class time is from 10 a.m. until Noon. The Beach Library writer's group meets on the first and third Wednesdays, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Members are working on manuscripts for books of their memoirs, children's books and articles for publication in magazine. And, if all this sounds like too much energy use for the hot days of summer, remember the cool and comfortable upholstered chairs with the perfect view that await you in our Beach library. Add to this a wide, wide selection of books, newspapers and magazines to exercise your mind while your body sits in idle comfort, and you have a delightful morning off to enjoy. Just remember it's morning, though. The library closes at 1 p.m. because our poverty stricken city can't keep it open any longer than that.
