Francis Wilson Playhouse Voted Best Community Theatre in Tampa BayCLEARWATER - The summer of 2009 began with a blast of applause at Francis Wilson Playhouse; they were voted the Best Community Theatre in Tampa Bay by Tampa Bay Magazine. So it is not surprising that an air of festivity has breezed through the Playhouse all summer while preparations for their 80th season were launched. To add to their celebrations, they are boasting a very successful Teen Summer Theatre Camp this year having enrolled over thirty-five students for its three-week season run by Showdown Theatre Company headquartered in California. Without a price increase, their nine-show season begins on September 10th with a fast-paced farce called "Leading Ladies" and tickets are already selling. Due to popular demand, the remainder of the season includes four musicals and four comedies. For Broadway music fans, The Playhouse has planned a series of four concerts which promise to definitely rock the house.
