Where's My Lunch?

A Great Egret patiently waits for a handout from the humans casting lines off the fishing dock at the Dunedin Marina on a recent morning. The large white waterbird with jet-black legs and a yellow beak has a wingspan of 51 inches. It feeds on fish, frogs, water snakes and insects and can be seen stalking its prey while wading in shallow waters.
