Teen Ideas and Energy Abound

Brainstorming ideas comes naturally for teens who have joined the North Pinellas Junior Civitan Club. These fabulous teens are serious about giving of themselves to help in our community while earning volunteer credits and possibly scholarships.

Of the 15 terrific service project ideas, the team decided to make volunteering at the SPCA Humane Society of Pinellas County their first service project. Second on their priority list, only because it will take a little bit more time to arrange, is painting or repairing a senior's home. Other service projects include collecting new teddy bears for children hospitalized, helping at a soup kitchen, assisting the Salvation Army and Goodwill, visiting retirement homes, helping challenged adults and children, tutoring in elementary schools, operating a charity concession stand (discussed was assisting the Clearwater Little League Challenger Division amongst others), helping with a Food Drive.

Watch for the Junior Civitans at the 3rd Friday Music Series and Fair in Safety Harbor as they will be there with their first fundraising efforts Friday, September 18th, along with their sponsors, the Clearwater Civitan Club. This is just one of fifteen exciting fundraising ideas these teens discussed.

Ideas abounded for Fun Activities as well. The North Pinellas Junior Civitan members decided to combine fun with one of their many environmental projects by taking the ferry to Caladesi Island, cleaning up the park and beach then enjoying the beach for the rest of the day as their reward.
