Tax Increase E-mail to Largo Mayor, and City Council MembersI am just totally flabbergasted that you folks are still considering raising taxes. With unemployment so high, and foreclosures still setting records, how could you do this to the citizens of Largo? I can't believe you have cut everything you could. I thought I had cut down to the bare bones at my business last year, but when things got worse this year, I found more. I was forced to cut hours, and wages from some longtime employees, I cut out paid vacations, I managed to reduce overhead a few more percent. Because of that I am going to make it through this downturn. Maybe you need to reduce wages of the highest paid employees, benefits (paid vacations, sick days, personal days), pensions, anything to forestall the need to raise taxes. It is so easy to raise the taxes from where you are sitting, but it is very difficult for some people to pay them. Stop and consider them for just a second, before you raise taxes. I know of so many people who have lost their job, and can't find work. Unemployment barely covers the electric bill. The population of Florida has fallen, I wonder how Largo has done. Don't force more of our friends, and neighbors out of this city, find a way so they can stay. Lower taxes, don't raise them. - Steve Trizis
