
Largo September EventsTrain Weekend - September 5th & 6th, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Largo Central Park, 101 Central Park Drive. Ride the miniature trains of Largo Central Railroad on the first full weekend every month in sunny Largo Central Park. There is no charge for this family-fun activity, but donations are expected to help keep the trains running. Southwest Saturday Movie Night - September 5th and 19th, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Southwest Complex, 13120 Vonn Rd. Watch a movie with your friends or family on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. The new screen and projector will make you feel like you are in the theater. Call 518-3125 for the movie selection. Sunset Sounds - September 11th, 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., Ulmer Park, 301 West Bay Drive. This free music series showcases the diversity of local and regional musicians on the second Friday of every month. Dine at a nearby restaurant or bring a picnic supper. Sprawl out on your favorite comfy blanket and spend some time with your family and friends as you unwind from the week and set the tone for a great weekend. Family Recognition Day - September 13th, 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., Highland Family Aquatic Center, 400 Highland Ave. For Grandparent's Day, the grandparent will be admitted FREE with one paid child admission and also receives a free gift! Fall Open House - September 15th at 6 p.m., Largo Public Library, 120 Central Park Drive. Now that the school year has started, see what the library has to offer to make life easier for you. Students, parents, and educators are all invited. There will be tours, demonstrations, door prizes, and light refreshments. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - September 18th at 4:30 p.m., Largo Public Library Children's Program Room, 120 Central Park Drive. Life is delicious in the town of Chewandswallow where weather comes in the form of food. Celebrate the book by Judi Barrett with a storytime, weather experiments, and crafty activities. Active Aging Week - September 21st-26th, 2009 (times vary). Largo Community Center, 65 Fourth St. NW. Enjoy a week of free classes, seminars and demonstrations on Actively Aging. The Community Center has partnered with the International Council on Active Aging to offer FREE programs that pertain to staying active as you age. Military Family Appreciation Day - September 26th. 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Largo Central Park, 101 Central Park Drive. The Special Events division is proud to present the second annual Military Family Appreciation Day to take place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on September 26 at Largo Central Park. It is a gratifying occasion in which we can directly show our soldiers, veterans, and their families just how much we value the immense sacrifices they have made so that we, as Americans can enjoy our freedoms.
