Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisTuesday, September 8, will be the last opportunity to learn more about your computer programs at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center. Tuesday's subject will be "Surfing the Internet, managing favorites, searches, security settings and virus protection. Cost of the lesson is $20 with a Clearwater Recreation Card. The session will be from 10 a.m. until Noon and a computer will be provided for you to learn on. I took the computer class, last week, on moving pictures around in your computer and on to e-mail or a printer. It was most helpful and answered question I had stewed about for months. If people are interested, there will be more computer sessions scheduled later in the year. Call 462-6138 to register for Tuesday's session or to express interest in future opportunities to learn more about operating your computer. Tonight is the night when the Clearwater City Council will have its first of two votes on the 2009-2010 budget. Let's hope they remember that Clearwater Beach residents take long summer vacations but hope to be able to continue to enjoy our library and recreation center during the winter. Do you do your part by making sure you take out a book or two, or rent a video from time to time? Try it, you'll like it. The selection in our cozy little library is surprisingly varied. With summer vacations over, the Friends of the Clearwater Beach Library and Recreation Center will start meeting again. New members are welcome, new ideas are also. Use our e-mail to let us know what you are thinking. It's recsandreads@earthlink.net.
