Social Security FREEZE. Seniors tricked and being ScrewedEarlier this year, the government gave seniors a several hundred-dollar incentive and urged them not to save it, but go out and spend it as it would help the good old USA economy. They didn't tell us it was a LOAN. Now it seems they want us to repay the money (which we didn't ask for with a higher rate than most credit cards), by stopping the Social Security cost of living increase (COLA) for the next two years. Of course, Medicare contribution will continue to increase. SENIORS - Let's band together and let Washington know this is unacceptable. In the past most small increases in Social Security were gone with the increase cost of gas, food and healthcare, not to mention large increases in taxes, car, and home insurances plans. I feel if Congress could vote for unlimited funds for President Bush's Iraq War, we should be able to have funds to support those who helped build and defend this Country, and who invested a percentage of every paycheck into the Social Security funds. Or maybe everyone in all branches of local state and federal government should also suffer a wage freeze, just so they could relate to the situation and get our point of view. - Dominic Grillo, Dunedin
