The Protection of the Citizens & Taxpayers of Largo - To Mayor Gerard and Commissioner's Arntzen, Gray Black, Brown, Crozier, Murray, WoodsMy husband and I, along with friends and neighbors, are disappointed in your decision to "furlough" the current staff of our police officers. Law enforcement should be a "Top Priority." These men and women put their lives on the line every time they leave their homes. The Police Department is already understaffed. What is the logic to giving current officer's/law enforcement time "off" considering that is not a monetary situation? This is the message we are receiving: "you the Mayor and City Commissioner's" do not give much concern to the safety and well being of the tax paying citizen's of this fair city. What is your concern for the taxpaying citizen's of Largo? Keep our city and its citizens safe and stop the "politics! We need each and every police officer on the job 7/24 not a skeleton crew. My husband and I have always been proud to say we live in Largo. Yes, we have a Clearwater mailing address but we live in Largo. Along with pride living in Largo we would like to know we are safe and will be protected if and when needed. KEEP OUR OFFICER'S WORKING! I will also add if anyone deserves a raise in salary it is those who protect us! The men and women in Law Enforcement are not like the every day citizen. As I said "they" put their lives on the line every time they leave their homes not knowing if they will return, yet these men and women are willing to accept that as part of their job. God Bless them! It is time to give 'them" the respect they deserve, not put them in a vacuum being sucked up by politics! Thank you for taking the time to read (hopefully consider) our concerns. We are hoping you will do the right thing for all of us in Largo.
