Tri City Klassic Cross Country Event SlatedAs the Kiwanis Club of Springtime City in Clearwater starts it's 53rd Year of Service on October 1st, the club's first Service Project is the Tri City Klassic Cross Country event. The meet will be held on Tuesday, October 6, at 6 p.m., on the west side of Crest Lake Park. The runners will loop the lake then run two times around the park. Participating Boys and Girls High School Cross Country Track Teams High Schools are: Clearwater, Largo, Countryside, Dunedin, Clearwater Central Catholic, and Calvary Baptist. This Youth Service project has been an annual event for the past 15 years. Kiwanians encourage these youth to run their best during the event and reward the top 20 runners for each sex along with providing the teams trophies for the top two schools. This event is FREE to the public; however, parking is a premium so do not be afraid to park your car on a side street and walk a few blocks. Recent club service activities have include the 17th annual FREE Children's Health Fair that occurs every July at the Long Center, college scholarships to SPC, many school programs from Headstart through High School including the Ed Wells, Jr. / Kiwanis Invitational Track and Field Meet for the past 47 years, as well as direct donations to children-related groups and causes that benefit children and youth in the Clearwater area.
