IEYC Members Beat the Summer Heat with Drama, Sports, and Dancing
On Saturday July 18th, 21 members and guests had a pre-theater dinner at Island Way Grill on the way to Largo Cultural Center for an evening of Irving Berlin's "The Melody Lingers On." Ten performers sang almost 50 of his songs for an enjoyable evening. The program was chaired by Carolyn Teague. August found over 50 members at the Tropicana Field watching the Rays take on the Boston Red Sox. Ferg's restaurant provided hot dogs, beer, fries, pretzels, ice cream, you know- all the good things to watch sports by. It was a late game but everyone survived. Gary and Laurlee Bernard chairs, Wayne Millington, Sandra Klontz, Jim and Sandee Pfister, Bob and Eileen Gunther, Jim and Patricia Ostrosky were the members that did the hard work of reserving tickets, complimentary visors, adjacent seats with a good view, and the stadium was almost a sell out. September brought "Swing and Sway the Night Away Dinner and Dance" at the Belleair Country Club. The music was by the exciting "One Dan Band" with a vocalist - to dance to the wee hours when the candles were burning low. A future article will feature pictures of members dance techniques in practice for "Dancing with the Stars."
