North Pinellas Teens Have Busy Schedule Helping in our CommunityThe teens in the newly formed North Pinellas Junior Civitan Club have no shortage of energy, a ton of ideas and little time to spare to meet their goals. They are serious about helping in our community. Their October service project is to start working with animals at the Suncoast Animal League. They will also be doing fundraising at the Hispanic Festival in Clearwater Sunday, October 11th, so they can reach a goal; to be secret Santa this year to financially challenged children. What a selfless goal. In November these teens will be visiting a retirement home to spend time with seniors. Understanding that children in hospital long term cannot get out to shop, in December they will do crafts with children in hospital, to help the children make gifts for their family. Also in December they will be working with adult Civitans to decorate wooden gifts for needy children and children in hospital. The Junior Civitans have asked permission to do crafts in January with children at the Homeless Emergency Project on North Betty Lane. You will see these teens selling bracelets they make at places like the 3rd Friday in Safety Harbor Oct. 16th, Nov. 20th, Dec. 18th as well as at Christmas Arts & Craft Fairs. All funds they raise will help in our community, especially with their goal to be "Secret Santa" to needy children. Everything the North Pinellas Junior Civitan teens do counts toward the volunteer hours they need for high school graduation, but more than that, their intense desire to help in our community is their driving force.
