Very Big Thank You!Thank you very much for including information about the Clearwater Neighborhoods Coalition, CNC event, "Reducing Street Gang Activity Through Community Involvement," in the October 8, 2009 edition of the Clearwater Gazette. Your newspaper gave this event an incredible amount of exposure. The CNC worked with members of the Office of the State Attorney 6th Judicial Circuit, Boys and Girls Club of the Suncoast, Clearwater Police Department, Suncoast Safety Council, and Crime Stoppers of Pinellas County to inform the public about street gang activity and ways to curtail it. The common theme throughout the seminar was that adults and parents need to be involved in the lives of the younger generation before law enforcement adults get involved. Sometimes that is a hard task to accomplish. We are fortunate in that there are some very good community organizations that are willing to provide the guidance and assistance to individuals and families desiring to overcome street gang activity. The organizations previously mentioned can help and offer the assistance needed to curb this dangerous activity. Thank you again for your support. The Clearwater Gazette really came through and made a difference.
