The Florida Orchestra and Guild Start 2009-2010 Season
The Florida Orchestra support group, North Suncoast Associates, started the musical season with a gathering of new and prospective members at the Belleair home of past president Mason Rascher and his wife, Jean. Board members attending were: Ron Anderson, Robert Burns, Johanna Guzik, Bill Jonson, Lynn Lawton, Judy McSwine, Robert Perkins, Martha Robertson, and Conrad Wieler. Meetings and fundraisers of the guild were promoted. The first meeting of the season was held on Wednesday, October 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the LaQuinta Inn in Clearwater. The guest speaker was William Abbey, Group Sales Manager of The Florida Orchestra. He discussed ticket sales and presented a fundraising opportunity for groups who sell concert tickets. The musical portion of the program was presented by members of the The Florida Orchestra - principal trumpet, Robert Smith, and cellist, Laura McKey Smith. Refreshments and beverages were served.
