Originally from Muncie, Indiana, Rex moved to Florida in 1972. His business, Auto Painters Plus, is conveniently located in Largo at Rodgers Business Park, 2101 Starkey Rd. E20. One of the advantages of choosing him to fix and paint your car is that pricing for auto body paint and repair work is usually $40 per hour of work, where dealerships and larger shops are $45-$60. Rex is ASE certified, attended several tech schools and considers auto body paint and repair an art and science. He has 30 years of experience in the industry. Employee Willie Torres has 28 and assists Spanish speaking customers--another plus. Rex specializes in torn bumpers and welding plastic and welcomes insurance claims. He keeps his overhead low so that he can pass the savings to his customers. "Insurance adjusters typically send people to the big auto repair and paint shops. Your car kind of gets lost in the shuffle and becomes a number while you're waiting around for it. If you bring it here, I'll remember your name and I can help you through the process of filing your claim." That consideration for his customers on top of his exceptional skill with damaged cars has helped his business grow through word of mouth referrals. Said Rex, "If you have a leased vehicle, we can repair any dents, mars or scratches so the leasing company won't detect it." Another plus is that Rex is an all around nice guy. One of his customers recently didn't have a credit card to leave with the rental company, so Rex used his own. Rex and his wife of 27 years, Andrea, a teacher and assistant director at Country Acres Preschool in Seminole, have a son in the US Coast Guard and a daughter in pre-med at USF.
